Jurassic Park Gets Recreated with Fan-Made Clips and It's Perfect

Have you ever wanted to see Jurassic Park totally re-created using nothing but fan-made clips? Well, hold onto your butts, because just such a thing has been released for your viewing pleasure. Universal Brand Development and Tongal are giving those who love the movie a fan-fueled take on the beloved Steven Spielberg classic, through a 'by the fans, for the fans' retelling of it. The quality and style of the clips used to make this video vary wildly, but that just adds to the overall charm of something like this.

Fortunately, Universal decided not to make a full two-hour fan-made recreation, which might have been a bit much. Instead, they've assembled all of these user-submitted Jurassic Park clips into a 17-minute video, using only choice bits of actual footage from the movie to fill in some gaps. In order to recreate some of the iconic moments, everything from a Power Wheels Jeep, rubber dinosaur toys, DIY CGI, animation and even puppets were used. There are many liberties taken, such as swapping Dr. Henry Wu for a female and having a full-grown, bearded man play Tim for a bit. One of the highlights is the T-rex paddock sequence, especially the bit that recreates the famous toilet death scene.

Back in January, Tongal and Universal launched a campaign with a video of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who return to reprise their roles this summer in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, asking fans to relive and recreate their favorite scenes from Jurassic Park. After receiving hundreds of video submissions from 29 countries, the studios curated the best fan-made recreations and memories for weekly posts on the Jurassic World YouTube, Facebook and Instagram channels, as well as JurassicWorld.com. Tongal and Universal how now stitched together the best fan submissions to recreate the original movie.

The video was made to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Jurassic Park this year, as well as the upcoming release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The video also features a greeting from Colin Trevorrow, co-writer and executive producer of the upcoming sequel, and J. A. Bayona, who directs the new installment of the franchise. Trevorrow directed the first Jurassic World and it was recently announced that he will be back in the director's chair for Jurassic World 3, which has been given a June 2021 release date by Universal.

Jurassic Park remains one of Steven Spielberg's most beloved and influential works. The movie not only spawned a multi-billion dollar franchise, but it pushed the limits of what technology, specifically CGI, could do for movies. The combination of practical effects and CGI used in the movie remains one of the best examples of how technology and real effects can work in perfect harmony with one another. Luckily, we've been promised more practical dinosaur effects in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which arrives in theaters on June 22.
